The Health and Safety Team at Essex and London Construction are experienced in safety management and working with Clients, Architects, Project Managers and Designers on projects. This often commences at conception, leading all the way through to completion, ensuring the project is designed safely. ELC can perform a frequent review of drawings, to ensure that Building Control standards, safe access and egress, plus on-going building safety is maintained. ELC are highly experienced in working on demolition, new build and renovation projects, so you can rest assured that your projects are in safe hands with our team.

 Essex and London Construction, Basements, Extensions and Loft Conversions are here to help you adhere to Construction (Design and Management) Regulations (CDM Regulations 2015). By appointing our team at ELC, our Construction Design Management Adviser's (CDMA’s) can help to ensure that health and safety is fully considered during project development. This helps to ensure that the risk of injuries or harm to those who have to build, use and maintain structures are reduced. The CDM Regulations were introduced in 1994 and revised in 2007, to which a further, current revision came into force on 6 April 2015. 

At ELC, we also provide pre-construction information, construction phase plans, risk assessments, method statements, logistics plans, traffic management plans and assist with health and safety files, as well as operations manuals on project completion. Are you seeking an appointed Person for Health and Safety? Every employer is legally required under the Management of Health & Safety Regulations 1999 to appoint a person, competent to manage Health and Safety with-in an organisation where 5 or more employees are employed. This can be an external Health and Safety Consultant, such as Essex and London Construction. Any company, as a Nominated Person/s for ensuring Health and Safety, who fails to appoint a Competent Health and Safety Adviser, may be subject to civil and criminal prosecution proceedings from Employees or the Health and Safety Executive; however, with ELC being appointed as Safety Advisers, this can be avoided.   

If you have a food premises which requires an audit, Essex and London Construction can assist by providing CIEH qualified Food Hygiene Inspectors. Our team of health and safety managers can swab your property and tell you if high levels of bacteria are present there and then. We can also check your catering providers food control procedures, to ensure they are operating in a safe manner. This may include their documentation record keeping, as well as their overall food preparation procedures. Many of our Clients engage in our services in preparation for an official Council Food Hygiene Inspection, to which ELC have supported companies previously failing their audits to achieve a 5* food rating.  

The scope, structure and format of the Health and Safety File should be agreed between the Client, Principal Designer and Principal Contractor at the start of the project. If you are unsure about what is required, Essex and London Construction can take on your duties and set the structure for the Health and Safety File on your behalf. It is imperative the Health and Safety File is made available to all persons who may be affected by the safety hazards with-in a building. Hazards can include Asbestos, blocked fire escapes, f-gas refrigerant in chiller units and hazardous chemicals used in the fabric of the building; all of which must be included in the Health and Safety File.  

Clients are aware as duty holders, they must appoint qualified and competent persons, this often includes Principal Designers, to which Essex and London Construction, Basements, Extensions and Loft Conversions Limited can undertake these duties. During the consultancy, services may include providing support with risk assessments, method statements, construction phase plans or general site audits for companies. We can also help Clients with identifying survey requirements such as asbestos, UXO's and ground soil investigations.
